The National Officials Certification Program (NOCP)

The NOCP
The mandate of the National Officials Certification Program (NOCP) is to develop and deliver training programs and certification policies in the pursuit of uniform performance among technical officials at each level of play and age division across all games under the purview of Ringette Canada.
NOCP programming is delivered in partnership with the Provincial Sports Organizations (Provinces). Officiating community members in all provinces have dedicated their time and experience to becoming certified as Instructor Facilitators and Evaluators in order to support their local programs in accordance with the NOCP.
The NOCP may provide training programs and/or certification policies for On-Ice Officials, Shot Clock Officials, Time/Score Keeping Officials, Evaluators/Supervisors, and NOCP Instructor Facilitators.
On-Ice Officials
On-ice officials facilitate every Ringette game to ensure that players can compete and enjoy meaningful fun in a safe, fair environment. They skate the game with the players, actively engaging in the game and making calls within the rules. Our on-ice officials represent Ringette Canada and embody our core values while upholding the rules of the game.

Shot Clock Officials
Shot Clock Officials operate shot clocks (a 30-second timing device) for most games under Ringette Canada. Shot clocks ensure that a Ringette game has flow by insisting that the ring changes hands between teams every 30 seconds if the team with the ring hasn't taken a shot on net.
Shot Clock Officials work in partnership with the On-ice officials to ensure that the shot clock is reset when the rules require it.
Time & Score Keeping Officials
Invaluable members of the officiating team, Time & Score Keeping Officials ensure that the game goes smoothly. They take responsibility for managing game and penalty time, posting the current score, and keeping a record of the major milestones of the game (goals and penalties). Time and Score Keeping Officials ensure that players return to the game on time and (in partnership with the on-ice officials) that the correct players are recorded for goals, assists, and penalties.

Evaluators & Supervisors
Evaluators & Supervisors are the coaches of the officiating team. They dedicate countless hours to watching games and coaching On-ice Officials and Shot Clock Officials on how to improve. They monitor these officials' development and decide on their best fit for each game level and age division to maintain consistency within the team.
Evaluators are the day-to-day workhorses of the NOCP.
NOCP Instructor Facilitators
NOCP Instructor Facilitators deliver the seminars, webinars, and other face-to-face learning opportunities designed by Ringette Canada for the NOCP. NOCP Instructor Facilitators have years of experience in their officiating pillar, knowledge of the rule book and detailed training through the NOCP on the delivery of these sessions.
